THE DANGER OF A SECRET RELATIONSHIP
You know you are married, but you are tempted to make a decision to enter into another relationship with a married spouse or a single person.
When you fall into the temptation of this kind, there are huge consequences that may impact your life negatively for a long period of time. When you ignore what would happen to your children, legacy and integrity you have built for a long time, with your faithful wife or husband you are only inviting problems yourself.
If you are reading this information and you are in an illicit relationship, the chances are that you can make things right again. On Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, it is very easy to be lured into a relationship. Most of the girls are lovely to look at and some guys are handsome for sure. You might be cheated to think you are the only one with the person you have found. Yet the person has others or may even be married.
The person may look very charming and innocent. The person can even shower you with expensive gifts and promise you with a lot of things. You become so blinded that you begin to pay attention to this man and forget your spouse at home. You will discover when it is too late that you were just being used.
This is my 20th year in the ministry as a Pastor. I have seen good marriages break up because a spouse was found having an affair secretly on phone with someone else. I have seen their children suffer because of this mistake. I have seen very beautiful girls who did not listen but fall in the hands of married men and after they are used, they abandon them for another. I have seen heartbreaks, bitterness, hatred disappointments, frustrations and so on. Here are some things to consider:
1. HAVE THE FEAR OF GOD
Hebrews 4:13 says, “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account”. Always remember that there is nothing you can hide with God. He sees everything you do in secret. You need to decide to repent and come back to your wife or husband. If you are a single lady, make a decision to stop that relationship and God will bless you with your own man at an appropriate time.
2. LOOK AT YOUR CHILDREN
Look at the trauma your children would go through because of your one greed mistake. This is not only about your children, it is also about yourself, the people you know, friends and family. Why would you throw all that respect through the window and ruin your reputation? Think about the community, your job, your mother and father. Think about the time you have spent building your relationship with these people. Think about your investment in education, your business, your trust with people. Think about the embarrassment that could emanate when the all these spill to the public. The Bible says, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
3. YOUR LIFE IS NOT CENTRED ON MONEY
Your life is more valuable than money. You have more dignity than material things. Do not sell your body with temporal things, God fashioned you to bring glory to his name. Money is not everything there is. The respect you give to yourself will determine how others will respect you. Yes, you have a right to do whatever you want with your body, but you need to remember that you are accountable before God.
Stop the habit of asking for money from men you do not know unless someone you have come to know over a period of time. It is not a good idea for a lady to be asking for money within one hour of acquaintance. Apart from asking for money, there is a lot you can learn from each other's experiences.
4. YOU CAN BE EXPOSED TO SEXUAL DISEASES
Like a rat before its bait, you forget about all the danger that may come with the person you are trying to get engaged with. You begin to only think about yourself. You want to satisfy your desires, you forget about life after sex.
I have seen so many regrets by men and women who chose foolishly and they have paid their lives with their foolishness. Some mistakes are very hard to correct when they are made. This means you will live with them like a scar.
5. YOU CAN MAKE THINGS RIGHT TODAY
No matter how bad you have messed up, God's mercy is available for you. Turn your heart to him. The Bible says, "The Lord, the Lord GOD merciful and gracious, long suffering and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin" Exodus 34:6 -7
GOD is merciful. Repent he is ready to forgive you. God loves you so much.
